Why can't i change the domain?

you have a custom domain set for a space and you want to change it it will not work just typing a new domain over the old one and press set first you need to delete the old domain, save the state, and then add a new domain follow the steps below to change a custom domain for a space go to space settings / custom domain remove the old domain (step 4) and optional url path (step 5) and click set add the new custom domain + optional url path (step 5) and click set
